I think I know what happened. I had primed with Body Brew after reading on the Homebrew Company site
"Body Brew is a maltodextrin used for priming your barrel or bottles. Body Brew will give increased head retention and a cleaner secondary fermentation than normal sugar."
Now I investigate and discover that maltodextrin is non fermentable sugar, so would be no use for priming!
I have primed the barrell again with 120grms of pure glucose. I'll give that a week and see how it fairs out.

I had troubles with king kegs too, so much so that I only use it now as a storage vessel for extra secondary . Usually it's unused.
It's difficult to pour properly, tend to get a lot of foam. The pressure drops off also, so you need to keep it topped up with CO2. I also had a leaking valve on mine the first time, and unless you REALLY crank the lid down you can get leaks there too...
Got a corny though and the difference is amazing.

Well the West Riding is done. It's very drinkable with good head retention, a little light for my taste but not bad. I have to keep the King Keg supplied with co2, I reckon it's leaking somewhere. The tap drips a little under full pressure; so it's probably that.
hehe I made beer! Beer is Good! I feel like the hunter after making the first kill <!-- s:-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:-) -->
I have "Homebrews strong Irish larger" Kit in the FV now for a week; I'm going to bottle it when my bottle washer and bottle tree arrives.
