Moor Beer Co. beers have landed at a couple of Dublin offies, and I was shocked to see that they were between €7 and €10 per bottle. I could see that for beers from New Zealand, maybe, but Somerset?

Even more surprising was seeing on sites like this[/url:3co6i1mk] that it's the same in the UK - £4 and £5 per bottle where most small breweries are around £3.

I get that they're bombers but €8 for 660mls against €5 for 500mls of Thornbridge, for example - that math just ain't working.

So what's the story? Are these beers so special to justify these prices?

Pretty much every bomber sold here is like 50% dearer than it should be.

650 ml Rogue bottles = 8.75

355 ml Rogue bottles = 3.50

Bullshit.

Brutal IPA is quality stuff, but you'd be mad to pay that for it.

And speaking of newly arrived beers are many of them Widmer Bros, Kona and Redhook beers worth checking out?

I think Thornbridge was the first in the UK to twig that the market would support a level of beer pricing above what was the current norm. Possibly they took a lead from BrewDog, but BrewDog always had that hint of the exotic by doing foreign styles in 33cl bottles. Thornbridge doesn't look like a fake American brewery. I guess Moor reckon they have a sufficient reputation to jump in on the top shelf as well.

People do speak very highly of them but I've not been too impressed with the odd ones that I've had at the GBBF.

Widmer Bros and Redhook yes.
Kona, not so much though still worth a punt. I have only had Longboard (meh) and the IPA (not bad) so I don't know about the others.
I should point out that Longboard, while boring is a brilliant beer for sitting on the beach. That's what it's for.

Widmer are the best of the bunch, and even then just fair to middling.
Kona makes a decent porter, but Fire Rock is barely hoppy enough to call an APA.
Redhook I skip entirely.
