Why are Moor beers so expensive? 13 years 3 months ago #7

That's across the board for bombers in the US, though, despite how illogical it may be.

Since I've not seen another UK brewer bottle in 660mls, it makes me wonder if Moor is aiming at the US market with both their packaging and pricing.

Thornbridge range from very good to amazing, from what I've tasted, and even then their £3-4/€5 for 500mls doesn't map to what Moor is asking for an extra 5 ounces.

No question here, really, just further stunned silence...

Moor's stuff is usually pretty expensive in the UK (when I'm back in the North East then the range in off sales is between £3.80-£6.00) so I'm not too surprised at the price point over here.

I've been thoroughly impressed with the ones I've had thus far - their Hoppiness IPA is truly world class in my eyes, one of the best modern style IPAs brewed in Britain, especially if it's in fresh condition.

Glad they've made their way across, hopefully will pave the way for some more exciting British beer coming over rather than the usual suspects.

Which offies have you seen them in? Can you remember which bottles you saw?

Nor'Hop
Old Freddy Walker
Revival
Somerland Gold
Merlin's Magic
Fusion (at a staggering €17!)

Not JJJ or Illusion, which would be the ones to tempt me to part with the cash required....

Widmer Bros and Redhook yes.
Kona, not so much though still worth a punt. I have only had Longboard (meh) and the IPA (not bad) so I don't know about the others.
I should point out that Longboard, while boring is a brilliant beer for sitting on the beach. That's what it's for.[/quote:1jp9t6xl]

Widmer are the best of the bunch, and even then just fair to middling.
Kona makes a decent porter, but Fire Rock is barely hoppy enough to call an APA.
Redhook I skip entirely.[/quote:1jp9t6xl]

Cheers lads.

Delighted to see how fresh the Nor'Hop is - just over a month since bottling date - and it tastes superb. Anyone looking for a very pale Pacific NW hop-driven ale should get on this immediately. I think this is in comparatively short supply compared to the rest of the range (only a few stockists got some) and I've more or less cleared Drinkstore out for the time being I think!
Definitely recommend it should you come across a bottle.
