Loads of Rochefort, mind.

Did you notice any Rochefort 6? I liked Schiehallion and bitter and twisted so I must give Old Engine Oil a go. Thanks for the tip.

No, but they were all way up on the top shelves so couldn't really see. Did you bring your stepladder?

Very true. I was in a pedantic humour this morning, sorry. Anyway, problem is solved. I'm going to head out to the Drinkstore in get a few bottles of Rochefort. I'll see what else they have that grabs me while I'm there.[/quote:1gs03s6p]

[color=olive:1gs03s6p]They are undeniably on Netherlands' soil, but actually, the brewery is something like 5 miles from the Belgian border... <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->
Then again, the Achel trappist monastery has about half of its grounds on Dutch soil too...
I could go on... Chimay is a dozen klicks from France, and Westvleteren even less.
Trappist monasteries tend to be far from the madding crowd.[/color:1gs03s6p]

I got him Rochefort 8, Rochefort 10, Westmalle Dubbel, Westmalle Tripel and Sierra Nevada Porter. I don't think he's tried any of those beers before and he seemed surprised when he saw the alcohol contents of the Belgian ones. I'm not sure whether I should lectuure him about how to serve them (temps. and glassware). I hate to think of him drinking them from pint glasses but I don't want to appear like a maniac either.

Anyway, I reckon it should be a nice introduction to Belgian beer.
