Brewdog IPA is Dead 15 years 3 weeks ago #1

Has anyone been making their way through the "IPA is Dead" series of beers?

Brewdog obviously isn't the first to do the "single hop" series of beer (Mikeller's been doing it for quite a while), but I LOVE that they picked some new hops from around the globe.

I DO love Citra but it's not great as a bittering hop and the fact that they picked 75 IBUs, means that the Citra was a little harshly bitter...

I've REALLY been trying to get a hold of a single-hopped Soriachi Ace beer for a while, but that one was funky and weird and not remotely "lemony" to me. (I'd say almost "mushroomy"/musty.)

The bramling cross was the best of the bunch to me; I knew basically nothing about this hop; I'm shocked that it came out so nice as statistically it's pretty high in cohumulone, but it had NO harsh bitterness at all. I need to find some bramling cross now.

Bought a case online last week but have yet to collect from Drinkstore, really looking forward to trying them out though.

Had these last week, all really nice beers.

I like my IPAs nice and sharp, so for me Nelson Sauvin was the pick of the litter.

The Sorachi Ace was really defined however, and I'd agree with Brewdog in that it's quite reminiscent of bubblegum.

The Citra flavour was great but it seemed to be the least balanced of all the beers.

As for the Brambling Cross, I thought it was a bit tame, though maybe I was expecting something more extreme after trying the others.

I thought they were all pretty good, but I wasn't exactly blown away by any of them. Citra was probably my favourite of the bunch. Well worth trying all of them anyway, if only to try a couple of unusual hop varieties.

Only had the Nelson so far and I thought it was great.

I've had one set and I've another in the fridge. I can't say that I'm overly impressed by any of them but the Citra is my favorite.
