In Belgium they drink 1.8% low/no alcohol beers. What a waste...

OK, so: the answer.

"Specialty beer" represents [b:1ygmjdx1]0.2%[/b:1ygmjdx1] of Ireland's beer market. An offie would be five times better off filling its shelves with alcohol-free beer than imported craft beer.

We have a hill to climb, and the problem is not, primarily, with the retailers.

Not quite as craft beer is not really represented in the on-trade so I would be interested in knowing the percentage of the off-trade held by craft beer.

Although 0.2% of the total market is shockingly low. Are you sure beers like Erdinger are classified as speciality ?

Ouch. That's a very sobering statistic altogether. If only there was some sort of consumer organisation to work on this problem...
