Dublin Homebrew Pickup 16 years 4 months ago #1

Hi,

I'm hoping to get a stout on tonight for Christmas day, so cutting it pretty tight. Just realised that I'm short of hops and yeast though. Is there anywhere in Dublin I could pick up ingredients? I've only used online ordering up to now.

Hi brewr, and welcome to the site.

There aren't any bricks and mortar shops in Dublin, but the online suppliers are usually pretty quick with delivery -- next day in many cases.

Thanks BeerNut. I'll put an online order in this morning so.

Do you think I can have a stout ready for christmas day if I start it tomorrow?

11 days from brew to mouth? Is that not cutting it a little on the fine side for any brew, let alone a stout?

Sure you'd want to be leaving it fermenting for at least 2 weeks and the same again in the bottle, even longer for a stout.

But even if you were determined to go ahead with it, as TheBeerNut has already said, most online places have a next day delivery if you order early in the day.

For a certain value of "ready", I guess. But I can't see you being able to get it fermented and fully conditioned in time, I'm afraid.

Yeah, I'm probably not giving it enough time at all am I.

I'll be kegging it up, will that help at all? I just picked up a conry keg and this will be my first time using it, so can't wait to try it out.

Maybe I should be aiming for new years eve rather than christmas day for this one....
