[quote:1guisayr]Likewise, Ruddles County is unrecognisable from the beer I used to drink in Nottingham ~20 years ago = it is even a different colour! [/quote:1guisayr]Is it drastically worse or just different? I don't think Ruddles is bad, but then I can't compare it to the original. I've only had it in the bottle.

If you want good Suffolk ale try and get your hands something from Adnams Brewery top stuff

I dont think Ruddles county is that bad people used to bring a few cans from England for me before I started brewing. Never tasted it way back though. Much better than anyting I could get in a tin here.

It is worse IMO. It was a well-balanced brew with a substantial amount of body. It was a "big" beer. Now it is probably OK but is much lighter in both colour and body (and I think it is lower ABV too) so is not as distinctive as it was. Definitely a dumbed down brew.
To put this in perspective it has probably gone from a "classic" to "OK" and probably hasn't yet reached the "lousy" stage...but I haven't drunk it for a few years so my opinion may be out of date...

Try St Peters Brewery range except grapefruit wheat beer. Some niece bitters, ruby reds and stouts. You will not be dissapointed, you will find at least one you like.
