I'd definitely consider Dead Guy a full-on bock rather than a maibock.

Maibock means May Bock, a beer made for or sold in(?) the month of May.

There's an interesting blog post on the Amsterdam Meibock festival here[/url:10956znq].

The author says brewing stopped in Spring because the brewery became too hot to work in. As I understand it, many cities banned brewing in summer because of the fire risk.

It certainly seems to conform to the classification of a full-on bock, although I've never had a maibock so I can't compare. I'll have to add this to my brew list, time to get some Munich malt maybe...

I honestly have not had a better stout that Rogue's chocolate, it is a beautiful stout, wouldnt have too many of these, but certainly a sure bet for a winters night in! Rogue do alot of beers, i would be interested to try their 'brutal bitter'

Just got me a large bottle of the Rogue Chocolate Stout in O'Neills on South Circular Road. I probably won't try it tonight, but might taste the Sam Adams Black Lager; got a 6-pack for €12 in Redmonds. The Double Bock was €18! We need a price watch thread/article I think. Beer for beer, Redmonds was quite a bit more expensive than O'Niells.
