I had the Dead Guy Ale[/url:5h7zxvva] while in the States in March. Was a tasty enough drop (as far as I recall). I assume you meant that and not a clone of Dead Guy Ale?

Redmonds now stocking these too! I bought one of each on friday night. Bit pricey at 5.99 for 65cl. The american amber was may favourite of the three but they were all enjoyable.

I didn't realise Dead Guy Ale was a maibock. I presume technnically it's not as a maibock is a lager but I digress. I had a couple of bottles last week and enjoyed them.

I'm not familiar with the difference between a bock and a maibock, maybe someone could fill me in. Is Dead Guy Ale true to style or is it an interpretation that's branched out into its own territory?

I'd like to brew something broadly similar. Not necessarily a clone of a traditional bock or of this ale but something that has that malty presence and a bit of hop bite that the bocks don't normally (in my experience) feature.

A maibock is a paler version of a bock (or a helles of bock strength).

EDIT: Actually on the BJCP listings a Maibock and Helles bock are grouped under the same style.
