If you were to move away from Ireland which beers produced on the island would you miss the most?
-I think it becomes an issue of a combination of quality and rarity of style...
For me it would be Clotworthy Dobbin and Porterhouse's Chocolate Truffle Stout. (With O'hara's Irish Stout as the runner up.)
-I just haven't found something that satisifies the desire for something insanely malt-forward as Clotworthy Dobbin. (I used to think that Celebrator Double Bock would do it, but after a side-by-side comparison; Clotworthy Dobbin is almost twice as malt-forward; Celebrator won't cut it any more.)
Porterhouse Chocolate Truffle Stout is the single best beer that I've had brewed with chocolate and I've had a lot of high-rated beers brewed with chocolate... It counts as beer and dessert in one and I've found nothing else comparable.
I do like Galway Hooker alot, but there are just too many alternatives available abroad for it to make my list of beers that I would miss the most.
I also like Messers' buttery Bock, but there are available alternatives. Clotworthy Dobbin and Porterhouse Chocolate Truffle stout are irreplacably unique in my mind. -I really wish Clotworthy Dobbin woudl export and I wish Porterhouse would make the Chocolate Truffle Stout available (in it's current version) year-round, bottled, and exported. -Except I'm not sure how I would like it on CO2 bottled, vs. Nitrogen; I almost think that nitro is required for the full experience on this one...
I would've also added O'Hara's Irish Stout to the list except that I know that I CAN get it abroad...
