Sam Adams Triple Bock 17 years 8 months ago #1

Hi,

Been a beer lover for years, just found this site recently.
I got 2 bottles of Sam Adams Triple Bock from Hollands in Bray.

I tried to drink this like a normal beer, but it's 17.5% and is more like syrup.
Has anybody else tried this beer? How should it drunk?
I would only sip it and it took all night to drink a bottle of it

Thanks
Darragh

Saw it for the first time yesterday. I'd guess it's to be consumed like a liqueur or fortified wine: sipped in a small wine glass or similar.

Was it any good?

Saw it in my offie as well, but at 10€ a pop, I'll be happy to get feedback before trying it.

It's a very complex beer, lots of different flavours and aromas.
The flavours are like nuts, maple, dark chocolate layered on top of each other.
The beer is quite heavy to drink and it leaves alot of sediment in the glass.
It will probably only appeal to very small set of people. I usually like double IPAs etc, but I wasn't keen on this beer.
However, I really have to sit down with the 2nd bottle and give it another go before coming to a final decision.

Sounds rather good. You just never know with the Samuel Adams range, I find.

Welcome to the site, btw.

I tried this a few years back and couldn't stomach it, much like Thomas Hardy Ale. Recently I tried some Thomas Hardy Ale and loved it so I would like to give the Triple Bock another shot to see if my tastes have matured enough to enjoy it.
