Just resurrecting this thread as I got given a bottle of this yesterday (don't know what vintage). I'm kinda glad I did a little bit of research before cracking it - 17.5%?? I'll make sure I'm sitting down for this one <!-- s:-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:-) -->

Anyone else got any experience of it?

Very interesting drop. It's more like a port than a beer, it's very unusual. Wouldn't recommend drinking more that about 50 ml in one sitting, probably over a year since I last tasted it. Don't think I could stomach a whole bottle of it. It's a corked bottle so it's perfect for storing after opening. Be careful when opening, just so the cork doesn't break.

Had a bottle of this for about a year before I convinced myself to try it a few months back (had read bad reviews). Think the bottle was from the mid-late 90s, though it's hard to tell.

It was like tar in the glass - syrupy and jet black. Tasted more of soy sauce than beer tbh, harsh burnt flavours, almost salty.

I think I got about a third of the way through it and had to stop. I've seen suggestions elsewhere that it would make a good BBQ marinade, maybe not a bad call!

Anyway, I'm glad I tried it, but would not buy another.
