I definitely got the Tettnang parentage from it. Not as tropical as I was expecting, I did find it a bit harsh, a little burnt cheddar note in it.

Speaking of SmaSH...over the last couple of months I've been able to get my hands on some of Farmegeddon's Smash series and really enjoyed and was hugely impressed by them. Until I had the Amarillo two nights ago. I hate to use the phrase, "drain pour", as I find it incredibly offensive to brewers, but I truly found it difficult to drink. Anyone else try it?[/quote:3w10m86y]

I got a bottle from Vineyard, best example of phenolic I have tasted in a long time, and nothing to do with bottling, there are lots of potential causes, but biggest is chlorine either in water at source or sanitation, anybody visited?, is their water filtered?.
Pity as I had some of their porter a while back and seemed to remember it was good.
Andrew would be great for a BJCP off flavour example <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=":wink:" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->

BOT, I loved Enigma even if it used poetic licence and was one of the highlights of the festival for me.

Nice beer, great beer even.

How come [b:173tvssm]Polar Vortex[/b:173tvssm] doesn't get it's own thread though...

What a fucking beer!

Eight Degrees can do no wrong.

How on earth did Galway Bay beat them to the best Irish brewery title on ratebeer?

8 Degrees are on another planet to the overrated as hell Galway Bay.

How about an 8 Degrees pub in 2015, Scoby?

Keep up the good work.

Overrated? No. Chris consistently knocks it out of the park. Even the core range is vastly improved since he came on board.

probably because the 8 degrees core range which most people cn get hold of is fairly pedestrian and its the one offs that were excellent (until amber ella and hurricane became permanents that is ) plus raters will probably do dublin pubs and they're likey to get many more galway bay beers than eight degrees

It's improved but I don't think it's particularly great yet. Aside from Buried at Sea and OFOF, the rest of the range, I find, is pretty average. Even at that, I have to be in the mood for those 2 beers. Bay Ale has been awful the past few weeks, really bad but I did at least hear a bartender telling a customer this and recommending they try something else. Stormy Port is just about decent but is served far too cold. There's a lot of times I'm in a GBB pub and I struggle to find something sessionable to drink as a lot of the time their guest beers are 6%+.
