Think you are onto something there Mr Chairman definitely think we need to lobbying to bring about change in this area.

Outside the obvious stuff like petitions what other avenues are open to us to change current government mindset?

It should be an automatic attachment to a microbrewery license that you can sell your own product at the brewery (once you pass H&S checks etc).

I can see vintners opposing it regardless, not only as they'll argue it's a stepping stone to deregulation of the licenses but they'll also probably argue that it'll immediately impact off license sales, cause people will just go direct to the brewery. And then with that the economy would obviously collapse. <!-- s:roll: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="" title="Rolling Eyes" /><!-- s:roll: -->

Someone mentioned it in another thread but Fáilte Ireland would surely be an obvious ally?

It's already on their radar. They are getting ready to do a big push on the Wild Atlantic Way next year- Microbreweries along the Way will be a major part of the push but conditions have to be right to attract tourists.

Do we know what the conditions are?

Pretty much the same in the rest of Europe...

The article came about after the last article Gavin talked to me about for some quotes a couple of weeks ago. I mentioned that we are going to see what we could about ending the archaic imperial licensing laws that even our old imperial masters have abandoned. Laws which have resulted in a cartel.

This article is the first step. Getting it in the public domain and making people aware. Next step, early next year is hopefully a joint effort between ourselves and the brewing organisations. I have already made that offer to them, though heard nothing back. Either way, we will start writing to politicians and get the word out in as many articles we can.

It will be a long road though.
