Sour beer 11 years 8 months ago #1

I've watched a lot of brewing TV stuff and listed to the Galway Bay lad on that BN podcast recently and hear everyone going on about sour beer.

Will there be any at the craft beer festival?

No commercial sours being made in Ireland. If you want a really nice sour pick up a bottle of Liefmans Goudenband (and get the Kriek aswell, for comparison) or a bottle of Boon Geuze, all traditional Belgian style sours.

It's becoming trendy to sour other beers. Sour is the new IPA.

Galway Bay is indeed working at a sour beer (it's going to be a one-off AFAIK, probably server just in the GB pubs as part of their rotating taps)

I doubt it's going to be ready for the ICBF though...

Actually they did a Framboise with St. Fursey. I don't know where that's at now though.

It's in the wine barrels conditioning away. We'll have a sneaky taste in about 5 months and see how it's doing

Hehe the old Liffey Brewers vs GBB sour-off. I think GBB are winning atm but we're about to acquire a load more barrels
