I agree with John, in an ideal world the emphasis of product knowledge would be taken on by the supplier, indeed most wine merchants play this role for their products. Maybe down the line this type of service will be the norm, but sadly it seems that we are quite far away from that.

The bar is based in Tullamore Offaly which, I would assume, is fairly scarce for beoir members in itself.

What butcher expects the farmer to train him and his staff on the different cuts of meat and ways to prepare it? What chef depends on the butcher and greengrocer for recipes?

Molson coors do some form of beer course. I know they've done it for some off licences. I don't know what exactly they cover but I imagine it would be fairly basic.

Cheers for that Niallo, But i think the concept of using a macro, to get a better understanding of the micro industry and information to help you to sell craft beer is counter productive, regardless of their intrests in the micro industry.

I wouldn't go that far.
Take Shane Long for instance. Now that his brewery (Franciscan Well) is financially secure in the MC family, he devotes a lot of his free time to helping new breweries get set up and teaches them how to install lines and taps etc.
