But what if it was Boddingtons or John Smiths?

Surely that would require a minor conflagration in ones throat to justify consumption.

You wouldn't understand. You weren't there, man, you weren't there...

Perhaps a closer parallel is the rise of Greedy King. In the same hypothetical hotel I'd much rather a pint of GK IPA or Abbott Ale than Hoegaarden or Leffe.[/quote:1ztn5pmu]
I'd certainly go for GK Abbot Ale over Leffe or Hoegaarden. I think most of GK's beers are pretty good and some are just superb. What I find really troubling about Greene King is that they're targeting pubs which are already good and reducing choice. InBev targeting dodgy hotel bars and the liuke is quite good for the consumer.

I agree with a lot of the sentiments expressed previously. I think too the image of a small independent brewer producing decent products. It is more appealing than being produced by a multinational for obvious reasons. How, God Forbid, wooul you feel if Diagoe for example over Hooker brewery. We very much like Hooker and whether the quality would remain as good or not somehow it woudl not be the same! I think there is a bit of romanticism of a small indpedent brewery as well. I fully agree the quality of some beers probably deteriorates when the mutlinationals take control and start cutting costs and reducing the quality.

P.S.' I DID MNT START THE RUMOUR THAT DIAGEO ARE TAKING OVER HOOKER!!!!!!!
