there are exceptions and the Avery brewery that I visited in Boulder prided itself on the amount of hops that they used, apparently they use more hops than any brewery in Colorado, including New Belgian Brewing company. They explained that Double IPA's, barley wines and Imperial IPA's have been reclassified recently, exact differences I'm not sure but the Newport beach guys favourite brew was the seasonal Maharaja brew which as an Imoerial IPA, bitter citrus, not sweet with abv.9.78% and IBU's: 102
