Hi folks,

been a bit quiet of late on the brewing front myself, new job, commute, etc., however have ale kegged in two cornies just need to hook up one of the taps purchased from tube and serve the inaugral pint

However, want to give the tap a good clean down, sanitize, etc. as it's a few months since I got it and god knows how long it was sitting in a warehouse before that.

I was looking at this on you tube last night...

Cleaning and assembly beer tap.wmv ( <a class="postlink" href="

)

but am looking at my shiny brass (or brass look alike) and am wondering how that will react to some cleaners.

Has anyone had any problems with discolouration, etc., or has anyone else disassembled one of these (not a lot to them after looking at the u tube vid and the parts on my worktop)

any advice appreciated.

tks

I'd disassemble it and give it a rinse/steap with hot water.
It shouldnt be dirty inside really, since its unused.
Then put it back together and run whatever you want through it, to sanitise the bits that your beer will touch.

I had a tap arrive today. The extra bit that I ordered that I thought I could attach the beer line to is too large to screw over the tap. Does anyone have any idea where I might pick up something to connect the tap to some beer line?

I assume you mean the barb fitting on the tap...
Put the end of it in Boiling water, failing that, use a heat gun or similar to get it on.
