Exact same thing happened my a while back, those cables are actually fairly expensive to replace alright.
Conviently enough a few weeks later Lidl had a few taps in so I just bought another one (I think the taps were reduced to 50 euro which was a bargin IMO).

Afraid I dont have any better info for you, just keep an eye on Lidl!!

You could try contacting the manufacturers; I had a problem with leaking gas/losing pressure, and sent in a query through the morphy richards website. They passed me on to another company (Toniton in Germany), who sent me out replacement parts free of charge.

The problem that I had was with a plastic gasket type component where the gas cartridge connects – the plastic had become cracked (maybe I over tightened a cartridge), and so the gas was slowly leaking both out of the cartridge and the keg. I think I have a drawing of the unit at home, I’ll dig it out later. Anyway, the manufacturers sent me out a small package with various small parts, including a new gasket which fixed my problem.
However, you say your problem is only with some kegs? Maybe it is just down to individual kegs/bungs. Be no harm contacting the manufacturers though and getting the spare parts, can dig out their email address if you want it.
