BeoirFinder App II- Android version available for testin 14 years 1 month ago #31

Nice work Andrew. Fair play. Works well on my HTC Desire.

[quote:1kpwx3cm]When you press the back button you get what I call the 'apres-splashscreen'. Press Back again and the App will exit.[/quote:1kpwx3cm]

Is there a reason for this? I was actually about to log this as a bug, a mislead splashscreen!!
No splashscreen when the app starts, not sure if theres ment to!

As for some suggestions (not sure if you want some!), the ability to search for a pub/restaurant/beer! would be pretty cool. Also, the info button and the close button are quite small and close together. Maybe clicking on the pop up bubble of the pub/restaurant for info might work well (similar to the way google maps does it).

Very nice work though. I can see myself using this quite a bit when out and about.

Fair play. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Thanks for the suggestions- yes the listing/search is on the list for the next release. I might start a separate thread to collect any other ideas people might have.

As for the Splashscreen. Well android does not want to display anything until it's ready- unlike iOS which looks for a default image at start and displays it straight away. I think I'm going to have to reconsider how the Beoir logo gets displayed. I would like it on the app and I'm not sure the 'apres-splashscreen' is really the way to go about it.

Hi Andrew

Tried again on my Vodaqfone Android.

Trick was to allow "Download from Non-Android Market"

Ap is now running ( and stays running as two presses of the back leave the task running in background

Maybe its because its still trying to find my location via the GPS.

Should it also approximate the location from a WiFi connection?

But for a first release and given the number of platforms - great ap !!

Cheers

Will

Think tube said he had the same problem on same phone (vodafone android smart phone)

I think the answer was it was due to the version of android on that phone.
