I'm going to see him in Newcastle. Unfortunately he only announced his Dublin gig really late.

I have a couple of goodies for people, but I'll send them in with Dempsey, and if my lager has calmed down a bit I might send some of it in too.[/quote:1nh26ln3]

Brewdog's newest pub is in Newcastle right downtown amongst all the good restaurants almost under the bridge. There's a great CAMRA champion pub there, too called Bacchus. (It's owned by this Fitzgerald guy who seems to own most of the good pubs in the area.) There's an AMAZING Indian street food restaurant right across the street from Bacchus, too; they have basically Indian tappas. Indian tappas plus Bacchus finished off with Brewdog is a GREAT evening. Bacchus has 5 beers on handpull plus some stronger European imports and a HUGE selection of American and Belgian bottles.

The place is super posh and has the best-looking Yorkshire pudding I've ever seen; it could qualify as the leaning tower of Yorkshire!

There's another fantastic traditional fare restaurant and real ale house on the Quayside although the name escapes me.

Newcastle is not bad to visit at all. -Sunderland's a dump though; avoid at all costs. -3 Weatherspoons (in a row!), a Nando's, and a couple mediocre (by UK standards) Indian restaurants in Sunderland; that's really about it besides a million kabob shops... (There are a couple of good places to go for a pint in Sunderland but nowhere to eat.)

If you DO make it to Brewdog try their imperial porter (name escapes me) it is smooth and delicious; I'd be surprised if there's no oats in it.

The Brewdog there has tiny tasters of their super strong beers for 5£ so a good opportunity to try them with little risk and they also carry the beers from Hitachino the great Japanese craft brewery so take the opportunity.
Enjoy!

Really?? You went there?!? "Cascadian Dark Ale" The style police's black helicopters are definitely going to come for you if you keep that up.

Thanks for the travel tips Adam. I reckon I'll aim for the Brewdog place first.

I'd say it's named after having unclean thoughts of another Gaelgeoir.
