While budget accommodation is appreciated, I stopped considering hostels 10 years ago. I don't mind sharing a room, but I would prefer if it was with someone I have at least a passing acquaintance with, not whatever clump of random backpackers happened to wander in that day and get a bed in the same dorm as me. Anyone want to share a twin room in a B&B? Be warned, I snore.

I've stayed in Sleepzone before moving here and it was pretty good. I stayed at the one on quay st and it was not so good. If you want a simple clean hotel room you can't get much cheaper than here, especially if you share rooms: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.travelodgegalway.com">www.travelodgegalway.com

A mate I got in to homebrewing is coming by for this weekend for a tasting session. If he doesn't clean me out I'd invite you over for a quick tasting depending on how boozed up are after the tour.

Oh yeah, when speaking to Aidan ages ago he sounded open to sharing yeast so you may want to ask him/keep that in mind.

Séan, hostels have come on a bit in the last ten years. That one has a 4-bed private en-suite room for €28 per head. 4 bed possibly means two bunk beds, but private room means no strangers, as you have to fill the room.

If anyone wants to go for it, I'm sure we'd fill a room. If not, then I don't mind pushing the boat out for a b&b, and I'll take you up on that offer. Exactly how loud do you snore?

That I'd go for. I just don't want to end up in a dorm with Carlos and Hans drunkenly butchering Bob Dylan songs at 3AM. Damn I sound old.

The last hostel I stayed in was the four courts in Dublin. Same thing - 4-bed private room with en-suite. Use of facilities such as the tv room (where Carlos and Hans hang out - I passed), use of the kitchen, and a free basic breakfast (cereal, tea and toast). Not bad for €26, for somewhere within walking distance of the city centre.

I'll join you in the hostel as I won't be in the mood for venturing too far after the night is over.

If Carlos and Hans happen to see this thread I reckon they'll be looking for a different room.
