I wonder how much it was cost to actually hire a bus. If there was enough of us to justify it, we might find that the cost between us could be better than taking public transport.

Anyone know any coach hire companies?

If we did go by bus would Saruman lead the sing along on the way home starting with a rendition of "the wheels on the bus go round and round"and later Will D chanting "stop the bus we want to weeeEEE wee, stop the bus we want to weeee wee".

Forget the Wheel, Forget the mobile phone!!

The single most amazing human achievement was fitting a toilet to a coach

In the "good the old days" 48 of us used to travel from Manchester to Northern Scotland for sea fishing armed with a skin full inside, crates on the coach and the only comfort stop we had was a 25 liter jerry can!!

Ahhhh! I can still smell it now

I just contacted Irish Rail's customer services. You can consume your own alcoholic beverages as long as you're not disturbing other passengers!

December before last some guy in a security type jacket had a right go off the girl in the buffet car for serving (macro unfortunately) beer to us on an "alcohol free service" which he said was because there was a carriage full of scouts on the train????. Fair play she stuck to her guns and said if it was stocked and she wasn't told differently by her boss we were entitled to have it, we did agree to consume it in the buffet so we wouldn't turn the scouts into raving alcos by drinking beer two carriages away from them. Of course the pricing usually makes it an "alcohol free service" anyway.
I have seen people drinking on the Waterford route and it seems as long as they are behaved and there are no scouts on the train then its OK

It's been a while since I got a train to/from Waterford, maybe 3 or 4 years, but last time I did there were "Strictly No Alcohol" signs on every table. I believe it was banned off some services as hen and stag parties were becoming a serious nuisance. Going on what I had seen in Kazbar the night before I could understand why!
