In all the years I have been to the Franciscan well Oktoberfewt I think this year had the best ever range of bbeers on draught - over 30 in total. There were at lleast ten Belgian classics available on draught including - Kwak, Chimay Blue,Westmalle Dubbel, St.Bernardus Abt (fantastic!!), St Bernardus Wit, Barbar Winter Bock (super again!) D.T., Boon Kriek (my first time ever having it on draught!), Piraat, Golden Draak as well as Schneider Weisse making a welcome return on draft as well as Doom Bar on cask - and nice it was too! Also enjoyed the Svutury's Baltas and Baltijos.

Well done to all concerned and especially for delivering such a super Belgian selection.

Yeah, the selection was good alright!

I felt though, being an 'Oktoberfest', it would have been nice to have a good classic German Oktoberfest beer.

Also, curiosity got the better of me with a glass of the Mongozo Banana beer - never again!

Had a great time at the fest on Saturday. Selection of beer was good, but there was something missing for me. Would have loved to see some American ales there, something a little hoppy, and maybe more stouts. I tried a bit of everything and then ended on the Smiling Buddah for the last couple of rounds. Bit sad to be drinking the local brew when there were so many others, but it really is to my taste.

Was it Oktoberfest though? Oktoberfest is in September and none of the posters mentioned Oktoberfest, they simply said October beer festival.

I enjoyed Smiling Buddha also.
