We've camped in that place on Inishbofin too. The island is fantastic, we were lucky enough to get good weather. You're right about the drive <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt="" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> There's a few nice places to camp near enough to Clifden in Galway too.

I liked Sligo a lot last time I camped there, we stayed at Strandhill, at a campsite right on the beach.

The only nice one I can think of is in Kilkenny about 15 minutes drive from the city. There is a petting zoo and a wooden American fort on it.

You (we?) may or may not want to combine this, but I think this[/url:2uunvwwf] will be happening again this year. I'll be posting it as a separate events thread if/when I get any news on it.

Thanks for the heads up - if its the corresponding weekend this year I wont be able to make it (being in Riga). The other thing is that its a bit of trek from Cork... dunno how the rebels will feel about it.

On the plus side, if its on the following weekend I have access to a family house about 10 miles away with *loads* of room for tents (and some bedrooms for the less hardcore!)

Anyhow, I think its only fair to put a few dates out there and see who's interested. Heres the weekends Im free. Dates are a Saturday (unless I messed up)

June 12th
June 19th
July 10th
August 21st

How do these suit?

June 19th is no good for me as I think I am in San Francisco

This seems to have died a death (unless you are all planning it by PM and not telling me). Myself and the other half are trying to decide a good location for going camping this summer, I was thinking of somewhere on the coast of Wales (easy to get to via the ferry, something different* on tap in the local pubs, able to receive RTÉ 1 and Newstalk on the radio in case I get homesick). Anyone have any experiences of camping in Anglesea that they wish to share, good or bad.
