Rocktober 2009: The Irish Beer Fest, Killarney 16 years 6 months ago #1

Was in Killarney for work yesterday and saw a poster for this: [url:16dmrnci]http://www.inec.ie/Events/index.php?event_action=view&eid=187&instance=2009-10-10[/url:16dmrnci] Doesn't really give any beer related information, I'm guessing it's merely a marketing ploy (will stand corrected as it is).

I was told something about this last week while i was down there. I called them this morning to ask what the beer element was to be.

After being transfered to half a dozen different depts, the conclusion is that the beer sponsor has yet to be decided.

Hows that for info.

Perhaps they should have said:

The Irish "Beer Fest"

instead of

The "Irish Beer Fest"

Precisely. I looked at the poster yesterday and figured it was a music festival, that would, amazingly, sell beer. Hardly earth-shattering stuff. But in order to make it sound "cooler" some marketing whizz-kid added the Irish Beer Festival bit to it. As I said before, I'll be happy to be corrected, but i have visions of Guinness been sold in plastic cups to justify the term "Irish Beer Festival".

Oh, and apologies for any ICB members who ply their trade in marketing. It wasn't a slight on your noble craft.

I got a flyer last Friday from some girls dressed like the ones in Diabolos avater (the ones with the jugs). There was the big 'OctoberFest' words, and not one mention of the beer on sale
I'd feign surprise but....
