sorry no chance with westvleteren
sales are limited to the cafe across the road from the abbey and anyone with enough time on there hands to ring the beer phone in the abbey and if lucky enough to get an answer only after providing the registration of their car might be able to buy a maximum of two cases at a day and time choosen by the abbey..as the beer is so highly regarded there is money to be made re selling-it can be found but be prepared to pay big. production levels rarely exceed 4000hl per year
st bernardus used to produce for westvleteren under licence so the abt is as close as you will get taste wise to westvleteren 12 (yellow cap)

Great! really looking forward to this! I'm currently reading CAMRA's good beer guide: belgium, so I'm really in the mood. They rate sint bernardus quite highly, saying the wit is a "highly spiced wit beer of unusually strong character". Also says that SB was set up to intentionally mimic westvleteren, calling the beer "st. sixtus".

Westvleteren, meh!
