Strangely you can't get very drunk while judging. Last time I judged beer I had only small tastes of each one. If you're drunk you can't taste much.

Better to get the judging out of the way early then, so you can sample a bit more of the ones that you liked. Looks like an interesting line up, bit of variety...

In the unlikely event that all the festival beer gets drained, does anyone know if Hanlons Corner will have anything worth drinking? Or will we have to debunk to the Porterhouse North? (Or Ryans, Sin É, Dice Bar...)

Congratulations to our own bighair and grainne who won the judges' prize last night for a really superb extract weissbier. The standard was mostly quite good: there was a really stand-out saison, and a Munton's Conoisseur kit stout that I thought was very good too.
