Hello Everyone,

I am very pleased to announce that the next OghamBrew Craftbrewers’ Festival will take place on Saturday 15th August 2009 in Hanlon’s Corner on the North Circular Road in Dublin.

I would like to extend a most cordial invitation to any of the ICB community who would like to enter a brew into the festival competition (whether beer, wine, cider or mead).

If there are any of you who would like to attend as visitors rather than brewers you are also most welcome.

Brews will be in the running for two types of awards with prizes:
- The Judges’ Choice Award - decided by a panel of judges
- and The People’s Choice Award - decided by “the mob”.

This time around we aim to have separate awards for different categories such as kit brews, extract brews and all-grain brews.

For your listening pleasure there will be music and for your gastronomic pleasure there will be food available. Nothing like a bit of grub to have with your brew!

For more information visit our website
or contact us at: <!-- e --><a href="This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.">This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

It promises to be a lot of fun. I really hope to see you there!

Dave

Hanlon's? Wow publicans must be getting desperate to get people in if an old school establishment like that is letting people bring in their own beer.

I missed the last one. Hopefully I'll make this one.

Hi BeerBaron,
Great to be invited to join in the fun.

What format will the contest have?

At the last one, every entry brought along a full pressure barrel of beer and everyone dug in. Will you be doing the same this time?

Will there be an entry fee?

Here are some details about OghamBrew and how to enter the OghamBrew Festival.

1. The entry fee for the brewer is €40 per person. [i:p9admkva]This includes x1 free Guest pass[/i:p9admkva].
In essence this fee covers the cost for [b:p9admkva]two[/b:p9admkva] people to attend and to enjoy the food and entertainment provided for the night. There is an option on a bar extension on the night in question, and if the numbers are right- and they appear to be- we will be running the festival until 02:00.

2. Visitor passes are also available for a fee of €25 per person. This €25 is payable in advance, or at the door and again it covers the cost of entertainment, food and (homebrew) drink for the night.

3. The Visitor passes are limited. We work out our maximum attendance in advance, based on the volume of beer/wine that will be made available on the night.
This ensures that all attendees can sample the attended brews, and it also ensures that we don't run out on the night. Some beers will shift quicker than others- but that is the nature of the festival.

4. Minimum entry is 20litres (usually teams enter a pressurised keg. A second entry is permitted, and a minimum of 15l is expected for this to be considered for the Judges' Choice.
There is no extra cost for a second entry. A team will receive a total of x2 extra Visitor passes if they enter a second batch.

5. The preference is for kegs for a number of reasons, but many members enter bottles, especially those more seriously involved.

6. There are two awards on the night- the Judges' Choice, and the People's Choice. The Judges' Choice will be decided by our panel of x4 judges which include Séan Billings and John Duffy (thanks again lads), while the People's Choice is the canvassed choice of the Festival attendees.

7. There will be a series of categories at this Festival, which will accomodate the novice brewer through to the more experienced brewer.

We would be delighted to have some enteries from the ICB. Any ICB members interested in joining can contact us at <!-- e --><a href="This email address is being protected from spambots. That's just a ridiculous amount of beer to enter to for a competition
