I just got an email requesting nimbers for the homebrew section of the filming this friday.

I get the feeling they really want a big group at this part. It would be a shame if the homebrew section looked poor, it certainly wouldn't encourage paople to take it up. And if i say only a handfull are turning up, they might not go ahead with this part of filming.

If anyone is interested in joining us on the night, put your name on the Numbers thread in this section.

The numbers should go up a bit over the next day since lots of people aren't online at weekends. I can think of at least two more signatories, but can't guarantee much beyond that.

Where is everyone from the July tasting?

I've not committed cos I'm not really sure of my availability.
Also I'm not too keen on appearing on the TV, so will need to get myself a good disguise. I should be able to send along one or 2 of my coffee stouts though!

I know people are worried about availability (though folks, it's only a few days away - if you're not sure you'll be around at this stage you're a bit disorganised ) and about appearing on TV, but this is a huge opportunity and it would be beyond a shame if we let this slip through our fingers because of a bit of stage fright. I'll admit I haven't a clue what the problem is with appearing on tv, as it's simply not something that bothers me (though I might feel different when I see how appalling I look on camera) but it really isn't as scary as you might think, and you're not going to look like a mutant.

But this is about homebrewing, and homebrewers. It's a bit pointless having multiple homebrews there and not having the brewers themselves. In fact, I will go out on a limb and venture that if one isn't going to be able to make it, that one doesn't send ones beer along. It really, really doesn't give the right impression.

It's utterly pointless for the guys to be tasting all these random bottles, and not actually being able to put a human face on the hobby. It suddenly becomes no different than them drinking any commercial beer.

Jesus Christ, there were 20 brewers with beer in the B&C a month ago, how can we only have three names down for this, and only one of them actually a brewer?!

I know it's a long weekend and people often don't get online at weekend, so I'm not completely disheartened yet, but really, if we don't have 8-10 brewers there it's going to be an absolute crying shame.

If there are people who really can't make it, due to engagements they can't change, or location logistics or whatnot, fair enough, but if there are people just put off by the idea of being on TV, or they were planning on watching the match that night, or they've made plans to go see a movie with their OH or whatever then for the love of God get over your shyness/postpone the cinema til Saturday

Having worked in TV for a long, long time in my growing up I promise you it's not as bad as you think
