Fair enough, but I would have found that tricky last year. It was many people's first taste of Hooker. Carlow brought a fabulous cask stout. Hilden made a great effort. I guess one overall winner, and an article highlighting those that made an extra effort.

If we're following the tasting sheet then the winner will be simply a matter of calculation, and this will mean we can give out first, second and third place - which would be good.

I do like the idea of blind tasting for competition judging. However, this means having an awards organiser who is not judging. Any volunteer for that?

Following the Munster meet up with Ger C, Btir,Dave,Peter ,Scribbles it was agreed to have a best beer in each style i.e stout, lager, wheat beer, irish red, pale ale and cask.

1/2 pints of each would be sampled blindly by one or more judges who are members of this forum. The best beer in each category would then be brought forwar for the beer of the festival award.Which wpould be re samplded and each person would vote for their best beer. The most votes wins.

The judges so ( More Welcome the more the merrier)

Stout Dave
Wheat Beer is the reason
irish red Ger C
Pale Ale/IPA,APA
lager/Bock/Pilsener Scribbles
Cask Rebel
Cider.

I think if we could have a least 3 judges in each category to give a more balanced view

Rebel, do we have a definitive list of beers that will be available at the festival? Or when it's available can you post it up here?

Barry did the award graphic for last year.

The beer list will only be agreed at last minute, hopefully the new Dingle brewery will be there.

Same as last year plus Whitewater, I think it's important to give each beer style an award. The Well made a the best effort by holding the festival, no other festival is a well done with choice, Cullin makes great niche beers. Carlow had a great cask stout last year as Noby said. One group of people will not be able to sample all the beers due to the increased choice. open to suggestions
