Ended up going to Brew by numbers in Bermondsey, as it was handy to meet a mate, but it's not the hop Mecca that the Kernel is, although it did have a decent IPA. It got very busy in the afternoon, especially after two, which was due to people heading that way after the Kernel.
Went to Hackney in the afternoon, and had plans to go to the London Fields brewery, but popped into the Cock Tavern for a quick one, but stayed there for quite a while. The Cock Tavern doesn't look like it has changed much over the years. They have a micro brewery somewhere there, in the basement I think, but didn't try any of the house beers. They had a lot on cask, and tried a few, but it just confirmed to me that I prefer my IPA's on draft, which they had plenty of. Met some interesting people, and joined them when they went to the Penbury arms.
Again there was a lot of cask at the Penbury, and it was a big busy pub, but ended up drinking bottles of Kernel as the cask stuff just wasn't hitting the spot, and they didn't have a lot of IPA on draft. We actually drank them dry of Kernel beers.
Hackney was an interesting spot, with the people being nearly more interesting than the beers!
