About the only time I will buy a bottle in a pub is when they don't have craft on tap, only bottles.

Likewise. I sometimes get e-mails from pubs asking what craft beers to stock and I always say if they're getting half litre bottles to price them on the same scale as draught pints since that's what they're competing with, not 33cl longnecks.

If you're not happy with what you pay for beer, and continue to return to that pub, that's your call.

On a warm day, all I want to drink is wheat beer and they'd no Friar which was what I asked for first. IIRC, I paid around €5.50 for organic SW in the B&C last summer, therefore to me Kavanagh's price is a rip-off. It's not something I'll tolerate.

Ah but you see I am happy what I pay for because I only drink what's on tap usually.
I'm not fussy about what style I drink on a hot day.
I suggest JW sweetman. Outside area, €4 pints, including a new recipe wheat beer. And yes, they are €4 again. Plus the staff are now trained and love to talk About about the beer.
The only place I can say that bottled beer is good value in Dublin is the Lucan County. Prices are practically off license prices.

I have to say I always find Kavanaghs great value for money, not the cheapest place but made up for by being well run, good food good beer and great service!

Like Reuben, I tend to only go for the cask/draft beer when in the pub, I can drink bottles at home!

And a +1 on value for money in the Lucan County! There is a monthly homebrew tasting there as well! Check out the Liffey Brewers forum over at the NHC!
