UK craft pub recommendations 14 years 1 month ago #1

Hey Guys,

Myself and a buddy are thinking of hitting the UK for a night over Patricks weekend with the intention of drinking some nice craft beers. Ideally we'd be looking for a bar that has an abundance of American ales that are not readily available over here, ie: Stone brewing, Caldera etc....

Our initial idea was to his the Craft Beer Company - thecraftbeerco.com/ - in London but this was quashed by the price of flight due to the rugby game on that weekend,

Does anyone have any suggestion for any great bars in the UK, outside the London area that might meet our exacting requirements?

Sounds like you need a BrewDog bar: Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and (scheduled to open this Saturday) Nottingham.

Also, the Wetherspoon festival[/url:23e5xbsg] will be on in their branches, where they get foreign brewers to brew beers for them in the UK. Smuttynose are participating this year. It'd worth sticking your head into a 'Spoons, whereever you are.

I kindof like Birmingham. Birmingham International airport is handy and flights are not expensive. It is a handy train journey into central Brum where The Wellington on Bennet's Hill (just up the road from the 'Spoons Briar Rose) is a superb pub. You could also take in The Old Joint Stock, The Lamp, The Anchor Inn, The Prince of Wales and Old Contemptibles (a Redmond's pub) on your trip.

And there is another 'Spoons in the airport while waiting for yoou gate to be announced.

How are they for American craft beer, though?

Cheers Lads,

The brewdog bar sounds great but we're in Nottingham for a poker tournament mid April so will defo be checking it out then.

Birmingham sound great aswell, just cjecked flights and they're about 65 quid each so pretty reasonable.

Sorry, I miss-read the original post and got carried away. Why not Sheffield then and go to the Sheffield Tap (55 US craft brews in bottle!).

Ot just go to Amsterdam and spend the weekend in the Beer Temple!
