north fingal is pretty sparse on the craft beer front. even a bottle of oharas is hard found so i count myself lucky to work in skerries on the harbour rd as it is home to blue bar.
let me start by saying i don't nor have i ever worked for or know the owners of blue. situated on the harbor rd overlooking skerries harbour it offers a good view and during the summer its a buzzing area on a sunny day from locals going for walks to bikers sipping a shandy its a busy area to be in and has a great vibe and blue bar is right in the middle of it.
beers available on draught are as i recall
[b:kogenao3]Metalman, dark arts, brewdog5am, rebal red, galway hooker[/b:kogenao3]. these beers are featured on the menu with decent description of style and flavour. as well as offering a taste before purchase.
there is also small selection of international beer bottles. there is also a selection of gins and small selection of your average single malt Irish and scotch whisky. it is also renowned as a decent cocktail bar with the usual suspects real mojitos are available.
there is also a good food menu (i didnt eat here)
its a two story bar a little on the trendy, hip side expect to get stopped for attempting to wear runners in at night. it has four tables on a covered table area out front with heat lamps that seems to be popular on even the most inhospitable days and inside there are comfortable seats and spacious tables and high backed stools at the bar. its a good sized pub downstairs and upstairs is open on weekends has a dance floor and comfy sofas to relax however its more of a nightclub feel about it due to lighting and loud music. staff are friendly and very helpful.
nice covered smoking area with lamps beside the stairs in a sort of glass enclosure to avoid being claustrophobic i imagine.
i was in for the 6nations it was busy without being overcrowded or over noisy with more screens than i could count leaving no point where watching the match could be avoided.
usually i can find something about a pub i would change but it is very difficult near impossible. it is a bit trendy for my old man pub taste but its something i will gladly suffer for the beer and helpful staff.
