Craft beer in Ireland 18 years 8 months ago #1

Unfortunatley this year due to family circumstances I will have to stay in Ireland for the hoildays.

So being able to drink draft craft beer is a requiste

So lets compile a pub guide like the Camra beer guide for real beer drinkers for Ireland.

It will be a slim volume, I think! I would like to see a more "formal" listing of recommended off-licences and craft beer venues here on the site. Anyone up for some project work?

And by the way, I am also spending my hols in Ireland. Next weekend on Inis Mór followed by some time in Galway/Roscommon. I wonder does Aidan need some short term QA staff at the Hooker Brewery?

It might be slim volume ,but worth while none the less

Thanks to the Beernut, I've tried O'Haras Stout served on draught in Ely Bar, IFSC. It's a nice pint and can be enjoyed at a table outside in the sunshine. It's no 'old mans' spot though. You might blind yourself on the sparkle....

Porterhouse has their TSB casked ale of course. Very nice.

I think it is a great idea to at least have a database of pubs and off-licences with something worth drinking....It will be very handy for any one travelling to different parts of the country. I might use it to plan where I travel
Unfortunately I won’t be contributing much as far as I know we are in a good beer desert here in Co. Mayo.

I might have a bit of a confession to make. Some time ago I started work on incorporating a review database into the site. This was intended to be for bars, off-licenses, books, equipment, whatever (not beer though as that's been done to death on other sites as someone pointed out to me). We played with it a [i:6u5axwqb]little[/i:6u5axwqb], but then I got busy with other stuff and life in general and nothing happened.

So, this would be perfect for what you are asking for. It would also broaden the appeal of the site to a wider audience; one of the reasons I started looking into the idea in the first place.

So... When I get back from my wedding/holiday towards the end of August I'll start work on this again. I promise!
