The first break of the year has me heading to Berlin in 2 weeks.

Only there for 4 days, so looking for the best places to visit. Also looking for some good spots to eat and cultural activities. All suggestions appreciated.

Culturally wise I definitely recommend doing the 'free' (in that you don't pay up front, you give a tip at the end to the guide, depending on what you think it was worth) walking tour[/url:3kiieh1g] - we did that last august and was fascinating, definitely worth a couple of quid at the end.

We didn't have time last time, but next time will be doing their sachenhausen[/url:3kiieh1g] tour to the concentration camp - it's closed on mondays, so no tours.

Food and drink wise I was with 'normal' folk, so had to make do with what I managed to find in everyday bars and restaurants, wasn't disappointed. Food & drink is very cheap over there.

I don't know any decent places to drink, but i quite liked Berliner Pilsner, which was about 70cent in the supermarkets.
To do, you definetly need to do a walking tour of Berlin, I think it was Insider Tours i did it with a couple of times, highly recommended.

Also we visited the DDR museum near the Berliner Dom, it got good reviews on tripadvisor, we thought it was fun and informative too.

Potzdamer Platz is nice area to hang out also, lots to do around there. Other than that I went in winter mainl for the Xmas markets, and then in summer we went to one of their beaches on the lakes out by one of the "Sees".
Enjoy, its a great city.

Beer wise also try Schultheiss and Berlinerkindl and the Berliner weiss with the red or green juice in it .
The Ubahn and Sbahn are them selves worth a spin on just to see how a public transport system works
"KaDaWe" is a huge department store with piles of fashion cloths,shoes etc.
The Natural history Museum is well worth a visit as is the TV tower in Alaxander platz (also worth a look in it self) .The Sansoucci palace in Potsdam is very lovely and well worth a day trip.
Military things like the luftwaffe museum ,the technicial museum and Treptower park are well worth a visit
The Zoo is very big but a bit pricey.
