Why are Tesco so hit and miss? 16 years 5 months ago #1

What's the deal with Tesco like? In Rathfarnham you can get O'Hara's Red and Stout, Spitfire, Fuller's London Pride, Bishops Finger and a few others but go to the Tesco offie in Rathmines and it's just kinda Leech and a few similar beers you'll find. I don't think the Tescos in the Dublin city centre have O'Hara's but in Rathfarnham they do? Wtf!

€2.45 though for the O'Hara's which is deadly.

Yeah Tesco is a bit weird like that. My local has London Pride for €1.99 all the time but doesn't have a great collection other than that.

I wonder why they're so random. Maybe they just trial beer and if it sells well it's restocked and if it doesn't it gets the boot. I know that's the essence of business but normally the big places stock the same stuff in all branches.

The O'Hara's bottles have a silly little "I'm Irish" sticker at the shelf as well...

I think I read here that it's doubtful if they could source O'Hara's through their UK suppliers so it's probably coming from Carlow? Anyone know?

Tesco put those strikers on all the Irish products and O'Hara's [b:25z2pp3r]is[/b:25z2pp3r] Irish and if they are getting it straight from Carlow rather than it being shipped to the UK and back again, so much the better.

My local tesco on baggot street has O'Haras red and stout, bishops finger, spitfire and londons pride, was speaking to a guys who imports brooklyn lager and he says he has the contract to supply all of the dublin tesco but I have yet to see it there, they are much cheaper than the offy across the road but i'd like to see a little more varietu

same in Cork ,Wilton shopping the biggest Tesco in Munster until Douglas opened only has Londons Pride, yet Paul Street a small Tesco has the full range.
