Tesco have Duvel for sale at €2.09 a bottle as a special offer which was previously for sale at €2.99 a bottle. They conveniently leave out the fact that it was €1.99 a bottle not so long ago...

Supermarket shelf space allocation is a funny old game. The supermarkets don't stock the shelves themselves so its up to the distributors to get their own merchandisers in there to stock the shelves and get the best shelf space with the cooperation of the store manager. I used to do merchandising for Guinness for a few weeks at Christmas. Guinness have the scale so it's no coincidence that they have the most prominent shelf space. In the biggest Tesco in the country (Clarehall), the special offer Brooklyn lager was on the bottom shelf and I almost walked out thinking they didn't sell it.

Yeah it's same reason why Cadburys always have the most prominent space on the counter front and Coca-Cola the same in the drinks fridge.

Ah yeah, that's my point. It's good that O'Hara's in on the shelf like. The more of it the better!! Great price too, probably the cheapest you can get it? €2.45

Ah so is it possible that it's Carlow's fault? Maybe they pick and choose the Tescos to stock. Bizarre that there's none in Dublin city centre though...
