Unfortunately I don't know Durham well enough to answer your question, but 2 weeks would bring you to 14-16 June when there is the Edinburgh beer festival...and Edinburgh is about 1.5 hours from Durham by train. <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=":wink:" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: --> So if the cricket gets rained off, you'll have a good plan B (or even if the weather if perfect for cricket?). <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> I'll be at/near the Scottish Craft Brewers stand (possibly wearing my ICB T-shirt) most of every day.

I now have the 2007 Good Beer Guide to hand. Durham pubs that get mentions are: Colpitts, Dun Cow, Half Moon, Victoria Inn, Water House and Woodman Inn. Of these, the Victoria Inn definitely seems worth a visit, but in my experience the GBG is rarely wrong about its recommended pubs.

A friend from work is heading to Edinburgh tomorrow , what good pubs could ye recommend in the center....he likes real ale too....

thanks for that, hadn't come across the victoria inn before but it looks great, would be tempted to stay there but i think we've already paid for the place we're staying in.
