Top Ten "Old" Pubs in Dublin 17 years 1 week ago #1

The Irish Independent e-mag (The Lot) has come up with their selection of top 10 Old Dublin pubs today.
They are;
Kehoes, Doheny & Nesbitt's, The Long Hall, Grogan's, The Palace, Toner's, McDaid's, Mulligan's, Neary's, and The Stag's Head.

They played fairly safe there, except I would object to McDaids inclusion after the savage (I mean unsympathetic) renovation job done on it about 15 years ago.

I've never been a fan of Kehoes, nor D&Ns. The only thing I remember about my last trip to Mulligan's was the filthy glasses.

I really like upstairs in Kehoes. It's like drinking in a Sean O'Casey play. I quite like D&N too. Isn't Neary's a bit too plush for for this sort of list?

Neary's is a bit plush I suppose, but it does retain a fairly genuine "old" interior. I wish they could find a better replacement light fitting (lamp shade) for one of the three along the bar. The things I notice!

The list seems to be a city centre one, but I always liked Martin B Slattery's of Rathmines, though I haven't been for years. Also that one near Kilmainham, was it The Royal Oak??
