that is sad news. Its a good pub and they try bring something different to what Irish pubs generally offer. It is in a very small town which might not have helped.

I'd have to agree - I was in it twice and it wasn't full on either occasion, while other pubs in the town(s) were. There's also Brendan Grace's to compete with hahaha <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->
This is a shame. Exactly what we don't want to see happening. I never got to visit, but had planned to next year for what I hoped would be another homebrew competition.
It's a great pity, Tara's is a lovely friendly pub and has a great selection of beers. Killaloe is not a big town but it does get a good tourist trade in the summer, presumably that wasn't enough to sustain it.
