Messrs Rusty on cask? 18 years 2 months ago #1

Have just been reading this month's copy of CAMRA's What's Brewing newsletter and there's a news item regarding Irish and Isle of Man beer festival in Head of Steam pubs in Northern England.

What caught my eye was the following regarding Messrs Maguire's Rusty Ale: "Messrs Maguire's Rusty is only available in cask in one pub in it's home country, but will be available in limited supply in some Head of Steam Pubs. It's appearance celebrates a further five Irish pubs agreeing to take the cask conditioned version on from May 2008."

What I'd like to know is where is this pub selling cask Rusty, given that MMs' have never even sold it themselves in their own pub in cask form? And secondly, where are these other 5 pubs about to take it on? Any knowledge gratefully received, and I'm sure would be of much interest to us all.

I'd say that's probably a false assumption. I doubt if CAMRA could get their heads around the notion that Rusty is kegged for sale in its home pub. I mean, why would any brewer do [i:3vzg4rv3]that[/i:3vzg4rv3]?

It a bit annoying they claim there would be not interest in cask beer been Ireland, but then advertise it in another country as cask conditioned at home.

This is what happens when your brewer and your pub owner are two different people, with different business interests.
