While I do speak German, I found that a lot of serving staff had excellent English and everywhere had an English Menu, if you ask, so you can just point.
And I liked the food in Wieden Bräu. What happened to you, Silenus?
I would echo the previous comments about the 7 stern pub. Definitely a beer place that isn't too fussy and has some filling affordable food as well. Enjoy!
just back from Vienna yesterday...took on board some of the posts here. really enjoyed 7Stern even if they closed quite early (out the door at 12). Their Marzen was superb...the smoked beer was unusual, worth trying but not something I'd go back to very often given the chance. Went across the road from 7Stern to Centimeter II...loads of potential including their own Helles which was tasty if a little bland, but I'd definately avoid this place mostly cos of the dire service.
I found this place called Salm Brau[/url:30s6gdrc] outside the Belvedere which was very impressive..great food and a superb refreshing Helles.
All in all a great few days there <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->
