I'm heading to Vienna in a few weeks for a short holiday...could anyone recommend any bars and/or great beers I should look out for there?

7 Stern[/url:2r7f3v1i] is one of my favourite pubs in the world. Fischer Bräu[/url:2r7f3v1i] is pretty cool as well.

looks like 7 Stern is about 3 minutes walk from where were staying...nice one!

Both of those are top notch places, but Wieden Bräu[/url:2ib4n6o4]is my favourite.

There are loads of brewpubs in the city. You can find a pretty good guide here: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.scoopergen.co.uk/scoopingabroadaustria.htm">www.scoopergen.co.uk/scoopingabroadaustria.htm

Get a three day or one week public transport ticket and get to know the trams. You will find that U-Bahn and tram combined will get you anywhere you want to go with no fuss.

thats some great info thanks! Do you know if they speak much English in those places as my German is...well....non-existant really

Wieden Brau is a good bar, with a beer garden too, food not great though.
Down near Haas House (really good restaurant) is a bar called Loo,s American bar. Its not a beer bar, but is defintely the best bedroom sized cocktail bar in the world.
As for the language, the Vienna people are the nicest i have ever met, and they all speak english.
Iremember a beer called weinstephan, a really good weiss beer, available in a hotel just behind the opera house.
