If you were a real beer geek/nerd you would:

Have an acurate thermometer,
Have an acurate hydrometer,
Have some OG/FG/Abv tables in your possesion or an AP!

secreted about your person!

So:

First check the serving temperature and moan like Eff when its 2 degress of ideal (by your recomendation)

Secondly, they should declare the OG and the Abv. Simple physics (temp and density) will allow you to check for adulteration!

I visited the Three Tun Tavern a few weeks ago and enjoyed pints of Broadside and Hobgoblin there (Ghostship was not pouring then). They weren't tasting watery to me, but...

minor gripe: Some of the bar staff need lessons on how to pour it. They were tugging away full tilt on the hand pump and the beer was seething and surging in the glass and the head on it when it was served to me was a full inch at least. They need to relax and pour it gently and pour a full pint (I'm all for the use of sparklers, by the way. I just don't want ridiculous quantities of head on my beer).

I thought the ghostship was the nicest pint size serving they have, and there defiantly was no issue with the quality.
Their pouring technique defiantly needs improving, they do tend to hammer the pumps.

I have been in 3 times now and have to say I have not noticed this.I received one "off" pint of ghost ship but just returned it and got another which was fine.

For anyone interested, altogether cask wise I have had Ghost Ship, Broadside, Dark Arts and Bru Ri. All were tasting as I would expect them to taste and not watery in any way.

Dark Arts was was great, only time I've ever had it on cask. Shame it was gone in about 2 minutes though!
