On the sig edit page there's a "Do not automatically parse URLs" option. I think you want that unticked.

I can't seem to uncheck those boxes in the user control panel, everytime I untick them and hit submit or preview and go back they are re-ticked.

My sig turns out as below <!-- s:? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt=":?" title="Confused" /><!-- s:? --> Am I doing something wrong?

I went through the admin settings and that seems to have fixed it.
