Deadly Damien, I need another stout soon

If that's geared for relatively slow speed hand cranking, i.e. 60rpm, is it going to be manangeable at 500rpm?

Also electric drills have feck all torque at low speed (well, my two drills do), but battery drills tend to do better as they achieve low speed by reduction gearing rather than slowing the motor.

Right, here is my report[/url:o4auy3pr] of the drill conversion and a simple grain chute, though my solution requires a work bench which can be picked up cheaply in Aldi and Lidl from time to time.

Thanks again Brian.
By the way, can you get some 25KG sacks of whole pale malt in? Marris otter or something similar.

Well done Saruman and spud, it looks doable enough to convert! (Always glad to let someone else do the thinking so I can do the copying, just like school )

Does the funnel at the top hold much grain?

A grain mill is on my "in the future" list and at that price it would a tempting solution!

I filled it and it gave me a little under 1kg of grain.

Should have updated sooner, but see above for the 1st part of my conversion

Anyhow here we go, pay attention now as you could easily get lost in the jargen and technology being used here.

First I had to source some extremly expensive and rare items
[img:25vwdpn7]http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo282/Spud395/th_IMG_4837.jpg[/img:25vwdpn7][/url:25vwdpn7]Yes thats 2 cable ties tied together and a good size plastic bag.

Carefully cut one corner off the bag (get an adult to help with the sissors) and pull it over the end of the mill and hold in place with the cable ties

Drape bag into bucket
[img:25vwdpn7]http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo282/Spud395/th_IMG_4841.jpg[/img:25vwdpn7][/url:25vwdpn7]

Press and hold switch on the drill (again a competent sober person may be required, sorry if that eliminates to many ) after placing grain into the extension on the hopper. Another very expensive item brought in from far afield.

1.1KG of grain in less than 10 seconds

Oh and I ran the drill at full speed no bother.

So in summery.
Can these be converted to be used with a drill?

Yes in a matter of minutes and for virtually no expense.

Thanks to Brian for the mill, MAF for the whole grain, Lugh for getting it delivered to me after I left it in the pub
